About Us
This centre was started in 1999 with an express aim of catering for the orphans and destitutes in the slums of Soweto Nairobi. The centre started with a population of 150 pupils and due to the need of education, food and shelter; the population is now over 1000 children right from baby class, nursery, pre- school to grade eight and the secondary division raging from 3 to 20 years. With all the societal diversity and challenges, our staff and students peacefully co-exist and respect one another without prejudice or discrimination based on gender, tribe, race, age or social economic status.
Our Vision
To provide basic, ordinary and tertiary level education whilst addressing other social needs of the children and youth to mould them into model citizens. We provide this for those orphaned and destitute in the city/ informal settlements (slums).
Our Mission
KWA WATOTO Centre and St. Mathew High seek to eradicate poverty through educating children, enhancing self confidence and instilling discipline. Through this we hope to create a self reliant person thus making a reliable future for the child.
